Swamp Cooler Repair, Service & Installation
Evaporative coolers are a Utah staple — cheap to run and great in our dry summers. We handle the whole life cycle: spring start-ups, pads and pumps, repairs, fall winterizing, new installs, and honest swamp-cooler-to-AC conversions when you’re ready. Serving the entire Salt Lake Valley.
Evaporative cooling, done right
A swamp (evaporative) cooler pulls warm, dry air through water-soaked pads; the water evaporates and cools the air before a blower pushes it into your home. In a dry climate like Utah’s it works well and costs a fraction of refrigerated AC to run. But the pads, pump, float, belt, and motor all need seasonal attention to keep it cooling and to avoid leaks and water damage.
Whether yours needs a spring start-up, a repair mid-summer, fall winterizing, or a full replacement, we keep evaporative coolers running across the valley — and if you ever want to move to refrigerated air, we’ll lay out an honest comparison.
Swamp cooler services
Spring start-ups
We get your cooler ready for summer: connect and check the water line, install fresh pads, inspect the pump and float, check the belt and motor, and make sure it’s cooling and not leaking before the heat hits.
Pads, pumps & parts
Worn pads cool poorly and can smell; a failed pump means no water on the pads and warm air. We replace pads, pumps, float valves, belts, bearings, and motors with quality parts.
Repairs & leaks
Not cooling, dripping, strange noises, or a unit that won’t turn on — we diagnose the real cause (water supply, pump, float, motor, or wiring) and fix it, and we take leaks seriously since water on a roof or in a ceiling causes real damage.
Fall winterizing
Before the freeze, we shut off and drain the water line, blow out the lines, and cover the unit so it doesn’t freeze and crack over winter — cheap insurance against a spring surprise.
New installs & replacements
When a cooler is past its life, we install a new evaporative cooler sized for your home and set it up to run efficiently and drain properly.
Swamp cooler vs. refrigerated AC
A swamp cooler is cheap to run and adds humidity (nice in a dry climate), but it cools less on the hottest, most humid days and needs seasonal upkeep. Refrigerated AC cools more consistently and works in any weather, at a higher running cost. Plenty of valley homeowners happily keep their swamp cooler for years — and that’s a perfectly good call. If you’re ready to switch, we’ll give you an honest comparison and quote a refrigerated AC installation. No pressure either way.

Evaporative cooler questions
When should I start up / winterize my swamp cooler?
Start it up in spring before the heat arrives (fresh pads, check pump and float), and winterize it in fall before the first hard freeze so the water lines don’t freeze and crack. We do both.
My swamp cooler runs but isn’t cooling — why?
Usually worn or dry pads, a failed pump not wetting the pads, a stuck float, or a belt/motor issue. We find the cause and fix it — and check for leaks while we’re there.
Should I switch to refrigerated AC?
Depends on your priorities. Swamp coolers are cheaper to run and add humidity; refrigerated AC cools more consistently on hot, humid days. We’ll give you an honest comparison and never pressure a switch.
Do you install new swamp coolers?
Yes — new evaporative coolers sized and set up to cool efficiently and drain properly, plus full swamp-to-AC conversions if you’d rather switch.
