The north end’s three hot-week stories
Ogden’s old housing tells the first story: East Central, the Trolley District and the bench avenues largely predate air conditioning, and in a genuine heat wave those brick homes hold the day’s sun deep into the night. Renting for exactly that week — rather than owning equipment the house doesn’t otherwise need — is the north end’s most distinctive call.

Does the drive north cost extra?
No. The $150 for delivery, setup and takedown is the same in Roy or Kaysville as it is in Salt Lake, plus $20 a day. Distance doesn’t change the price.
What’s included?
Two high-efficiency portable A/C units at 450 square feet apiece, roughly 900 together, plus a portable swamp cooler, the identical kit we run in Salt Lake. Delivered, installed and eventually removed anywhere from Ogden to Woods Cross.
How are the rental days counted?
Calendar dates, same math as the valley: $150 for delivery, setup and takedown, $20 per date on site, setup and pickup dates each counting one whatever the hour. Third unit: $10 a day.
Many older Ogden homes have no A/C at all. Is renting for a heat wave normal?
Very normal, and it’s the north end’s most distinctive call. The old bench and East Central housing rides most summers on evening air, and for the one or two brutal weeks, portables in the bedrooms beat buying a machine the house doesn’t need fifty weeks a year.
Will portables cool a whole house?
They hold the rooms they’re in, and we say so plainly. In the Hill Field tract ramblers of Roy, Clearfield and Clinton, two units come close to covering the real living space; in bigger Layton and Syracuse two-stories, they hold the bedrooms while the repair waits.
Can I rent if another company is doing my repair?
Yes, whichever north-end company holds the ticket. Prefer ours? The weekday service call is $80 (7am-6pm), credited toward approved repairs, +$40 weeknights to 10pm and all weekend, and the drive changes none of it.
