For the houses fans can’t save

Portable A/C rental in Sugar House

Same-day cool for bungalows that never had central air — delivered, set up, and hauled away when the heat breaks or the repair lands.

Local context

Beautiful old houses, brutal July bedrooms

The bungalows and cottages that make Sugar House worth living in were built before refrigerated air was something a house came with. Many still cool with a rooftop swamp cooler, some with window units, and a surprising number with nothing but crossed fingers and a box fan — which works fine until the first week of real heat, when a converted attic bedroom under a low roof becomes an oven that doesn’t cool down until 2am.

A rental is the right-sized answer. For the hot stretch — or the wait while a swamp cooler or A/C gets repaired — we deliver two portable A/C units and a portable swamp cooler, set them up cleanly in the windows these old houses actually have, and haul everything away when the need passes. No buying a machine for one month a year, no wrestling one up from a basement.

Who calls for this

The Sugar House calls we get most

THE ATTIC BEDROOM

A converted upstairs under a low roof, holding 85 degrees at midnight. One portable up there rescues the whole arrangement.

THE SWAMP COOLER WAIT

The rooftop cooler quit mid-July and parts take a few days. Portables bridge the gap — and we can repair the cooler too.

THE NO-COOLING HOUSE

No central air, no cooler, and a newborn, a work-from-home week, or a heat advisory. Rent for the stretch that hurts; hand it back after.

THE REMODEL

Kitchen open to the studs and the HVAC off. The household stays comfortable while the project runs its course.

Sugar House rental FAQ

What Sugar House asks before renting

Do you deliver portable A/C same-day in Sugar House?

Usually the day you reserve. Sugar House is minutes off our routes, and setup runs weekdays 7am-10pm, Saturday 8am-10pm, Sunday 8am-9pm. One call or text to 801-960-5925 gets you a confirmed window on the spot.

Who rents portable A/C units in Sugar House?

Canyon Comfort Heating & Cooling delivers rental portables across Sugar House’s bungalow streets, sets them up in the old windows properly, and repairs the swamp coolers and A/C these houses run, one licensed, insured company for both. Call or text 801-960-5925.

Our bungalow has no central air at all. Is renting worth it for one hot month?

That’s exactly the Sugar House case. Rather than buying a machine you’ll store for eleven months, you rent for the stretch that actually hurts, we haul it in and out, and the bedroom stays sleepable through the worst of it.

What’s included?

Every rental is the full kit: two high-efficiency portables good for 450 square feet each (900 together) plus a portable swamp cooler. We deliver it, set it up, and haul it back out when the need passes.

What does it cost, and how do the days count?

Calendar dates, plainly counted. The $150 gets the units delivered, set up and eventually taken down; every date they sit in the house adds $20, setup and pickup dates included, no matter the hour. A third unit adds $10 a day.

Will one portable cool the whole bungalow?

Portables cool rooms, not houses, and we’d rather be straight about that. In a compact Sugar House floor plan, though, two units placed well cover the bedroom and the living space, which is most of what a comfortable week needs.

Do the units fit an older house’s windows?

The exhaust kits work with the double-hung and slider windows these houses have, and setting that up cleanly is part of the setup. That’s one of the reasons we do the install rather than dropping boxes at the door.

My A/C is being repaired by another company. Can I still rent?

Yes, no matter whose truck is in the driveway. And if you’d like the repair on our ticket instead, a weekday service call is $80 (7am-6pm), credited toward approved work, with $40 more on weeknights to 10pm and weekends.
